Neil Rockind did it again.
Last year we began the representation of an individual charged with Operating While Intoxicated 3rd offense – which is a felony punishable by a MINIMUM of 30 days in jail!
This, despite the fact that his first offense occurred more than 20 years ago and his second offense occurred more than 10 years ago.
The prosecutor’s office was unmoved by a 20 page detailed letter that we mailed them discussing his life, his trials and tribulations, and the terrible spiral that his life had recently taken that had landed him in the position that he was currently in.
Knowing we were not going to get anywhere with the prosecutor’s office, we took our case to the Judge. Neil appeared at his sentencing and at the end of the day, the Judge agreed to forgo the jail time!
This is now the second time within a year that our firm has saved a defendant, who pleaded to an OWI 3rd, from serving any jail time. And I am sure it will not be the last.
