Michigan State Police Raid Romulus Police Department

ROMULUS, Mich. — Michigan State Police executed search warrants Tuesday at the Romulus Police Department’s headquarters, the police chief’s home and the chief’s wife’s office.

Investigators with evidence bags were seen walking out of Romulus Police Chief Michael St. Andre’s Garden City home.

“I knew this was coming,” St. Andre said.

He said the search was part of a three-year investigation.

“I can’t get too much into this. They’re doing an investigation on the Police Department,” St. Andre said. “They’ve come to the station, they kept on getting paperwork after paperwork. We’ve cooperate. Every single time we cooperate with them.”

St. Andre said his wife’s tanning salon was also raided.

“I have no idea what they’re looking for, to be honest with you,” he said. “I really don’t know.”

Sources told Local 4 the center of the investigation revolves around the misuse of overtime money within the department.

Romulus Mayor Alan Lambert released the following statement in response to the raid:

“We are aware that MSP have executed a search warrant at the Romulus Police Department and it is my direction that the Chief of Police and the Romulus Police Department cooperate. MSP have the ability to investigate and we have no objection to them doing so. We stand by our Police Department and will fully cooperate with the MSP during the course of this investigation.”

St. Andre said the Police Department is still functioning and patrols are still under way.

  1. This does not surprise me one bit, after all two officers from Romulus pinned my son down and lied and said he resisted arrest. They tasered him over 20 times pinning him to the ground. I have the pictures to prove it .
