After numerous discussions with the Washtenaw County Prosecutor’s Office regarding the felony charge of possession of a weapon in a jail, it became very apparent that the prosecutor’s office was merely pursuing the felony charge in order to protect and hide the misconduct of the State Police officer who effectuated the arrest. Armed with that knowledge, we filed a lengthy motion and brief to dismiss based on several grounds. A couple of days later the prosecutor’s office called and told us that they were dismissing the felony charge. Couldn’t have asked for a better outcome!
